2020 Winter League for the W.D. Ryan Memorial Trophy (18 Holes) and the Jim Houton Memorial Trophy (9 Holes)

The 2020 Winter League, sponsored by Energia, will commence again shortly, and will be run over 8 weekends beginning on the weekend of Saturday/Sunday December 28th/29th and ending on the weekend of Saturday/Sunday February 15th/16th. The format will be 18 holes Stableford with the best 5 scores aggregated to determine the winning scores. For 2020 there will also be a 9-hole Winter League.

Each week you may play on either Saturday or Sunday, however you cannot enter the competition on both days. There must be a total of twelve competitors or more for the 9 Hole Winter League to be an official competition. Competitors can NOT compete in both 9 Hole and 18 Hole Winter League competitions, so whichever competition you first enter is the one you must stay in for the duration of the Winter League. There will be two separate competitions set up on the computer in the hall please exercise care when entering.

On Sundays you may play your round at any time during the day. There will be reserved tee times for the 9 Hole competition to identify players who only wish to play 9 holes. It is not mandatory for 9-hole competitors to play in these. The entry fee for both the 9 Hole and 18 Hole Winter League is €6 per round, For those playing on Sundays, the person marking your card does not have to be playing in the Winter League, but must be a member of Killiney GC. Junior Members with a handicap of 16 or less are eligible to play in the Winter League and win all categories of prizes. Normal booking rules apply.

There will be 3 Prize Classes: 

Class 1: 0 to 12 handicap.

Class 2: 13 to 17 handicap.

Class 3: 18 and above handicap.

These will be subject to review if there are insufficient entries in any one class.

Depending on weather conditions, the course may be varied from day to day and details of any changes will be posted in advance on the Club Website.  

If for any reason a Weekend Competition is cancelled, the following adjustments will apply if less than 8 rounds of the Winter League competition are played:

7/6 Competitions: 4 best scores to count.

5 Competitions:    3 best scores to count.

4/3 Competitions: 2 best scores to count.

Prizes: A maximum of TWO prizes may be won by any one player in the Winter League in order as listed below: (Players who finish in overall first, second or third place may not win a class prize, but can win a daily round prize)

At the conclusion of the Winter League the overall winner will receive the W.D.Ryan Memorial Trophy and a prize.

Prizes will also be awarded for overall second and third place.

Weekend Prizes: Winner and Second place.

The winner, runner-up and third place in each Class will be awarded a prize.

Overall Winner and Runner-Up for the 9 Hole Winter League will receive a prize.

In the event of a tie for a prize, the winner will be the person with the best individual round score.

Entry Fee per round shall be €6 through the smart card in the usual way.

The timesheets for Saturdays and Sundays will be released on the club website at 20.00 pm on the Thursday 10 days before the competition. The timesheet for Round One will be released on the club website on Thursday December 19th at 20.00 pm. A weekly Leaderboard will be posted to the Killiney GC Website. Weekly results will be posted to the Club Website after play finishes on Sunday.
