Dear Members,

After 28 years of loyal service our Chef Mark Clarke has decided to retire and will finish his contract with the club at the end of August 2020. Mark has been a fantastic asset to the club and alongside his brother Alan and his father before him, the Clarke family have built an outstanding reputation far and wide for producing the finest quality fare; something all of us as members have thoroughly enjoyed experiencing and have been extremely proud of.  We are sorry to see him go but wish him a long and happy retirement as he moves on to a new phase in his life.

The good news is that the Clarke destiny will continue, and we are delighted to announce that Alan Clarke has accepted our offer to take over the Catering Contract from the 1st September. This ensures continuity for our club and a continued quality catering service during these exceptional times.  Alan is the ideal candidate to follow in his brother’s footsteps, having previously worked in the Leopardstown Inn for fifteen years, he joined Mark in the club two years ago and he plans to continue to produce the same outstanding food and service for our members.

Given the times we are in, we will not be able to give Mark a proper send-off in true Killiney style, but we are planning to mark the occasion and are looking into suitable options to acknowledge all that he has done for the Club. In the meantime, we are asking members to email Mags at office@killineygolfclub.ie or put pen to paper with your memories, anecdotes and good wishes so that we can compile these and present them to Mark on this occasion before he leaves us.

I’m sure you will join us in wishing Alan well as he takes over the reins and wish Mark all the very best for the future.

Yours faithfully,

Killiney Golf Club Council
