Ladies Intermediate Cup Semi-final v Naas at K Club

Epic journey to get this far - 5 rounds with good scalps along the way! Our first round was in April, in Old Conna, where we struggled to get a practice round in because of the snow  - a long distance memory with the awesome summer we have been having.  This amazing team beat Rathfarnham, Dunlaoghaire , Foxrock and Corrstown before meeting Naas in the K Club on Sunday 5th August.

The day arrived at last, after weeks of preparation from the players and the caddies - everyone felt good and ready. The K Club was in amazing condition and the weather was close to perfect - sunshine and a gentle breeze.

The matches were extremely close with Killiney in a very good position after the front nine. (up in 4 matches).  Diane and Orla put up a good fight but were narrowly beaten and Darina secured a win for Killiney. With the score 2 matches to 1 it was Cathryn and Mieke under pressure. Cathryn was one down playing 18. She played the hole fantastically to win and go down the 19th. Nail - biting golf but she was very unlucky to lose the 19th. The unstoppable Mieke was a/s on the 18th and was heading to the 19th when she was called in.  Hard fought matches - could have gone either way.

many thanks to all our supporters who made a huge effort to come to the K club.  hate to mention names as there was a huge turnout and I would hate to omit someone . Both the Captain and President were in attendance.

A special thanks to the team and caddies who put in hours of practice and have done Killiney proud.
