Yesterday Killiney battled Castle in a very intensely fought Bloom Cup semi final.

First out was the father and son combination of Dave and Paddy Allen who got into an early lead and never really let go, winning 3&2 on the sixteenth.

The second pairing of Donn O’Shaughnessy and John Quinn were 4 down after 13 and looked like they were in big trouble.

Paul Phelan and Paddy Dempsey had fought back from 3 down and just missed going all square but were eventually outmuscled and lost 2&1.

David Mountjoy and John Dawson got off to a flying start but also fell at the 17th losing 2&1.

The score is 2:1 in favour of Castle at this stage as Donn & John head up the 18th, miraculously only 1 down - the half was on! Pat Walsh & Stephen Doris are coming up the 17th 1 up.

Donn & John win 18th to halve their match and Pat and Stephen win their match on 17, 2&1.

Castle 2.5 Killiney 2.5

Pat and Stephen go up 19th, Pat plays 3 great shots up to the edge of the green and just misses the birdie by inches - putt given and Pat is in for 5. Castle pairing each have a putt to halve the hole - first one missed; second one missed; Killiney win 19th to win match and march on to the final!!

A big thank you to Brendan Seaver who filled in for Conrad on the day and all the supporters who came out on the day!

Roll on September where Killiney will face either Rathfarnham or Newlands.
