MEN'S SECTION

Pace of Play
Pace of play continues to be an issue particularly on Sat competitions. Over the past few weeks, a number of member groups have reported rounds in excess of our target time of less than 4 hours . This was due to forward groups not being directly behind the group in front and losing a number of holes.  Members are reminded of two key elements of the pace of play guidelines:
* Speak Up - If your group is falling behind a special effort needs to be made to catch up. It is everybody’s duty in the group to be aware and speak up.
* Be Aware - One’s place on the golf course is immediately behind the players in front, not in front of the players behind. Call a faster group through when circumstances are appropriate.
The Men’s committee will be monitoring pace of play over the coming weeks to ensure adherence to guidelines.
Many thanks to all members for their assistance with this matter.

Artisans v Men’s Committee Match

Captain Gary Ryan presented the Artisan's Chairman Tony Bolger with the Artisan Cup to the victorious Artisan team.

The Annual Men's Committee Vs Artisans match took place on Sunday 20th during strong winds and extremely blustery conditions. The format was fourball 9-hole matchplay with the Committee team trying to win back the trophy after last year's eye-watering 4:1 defeat.

The match took place after very friendly introductions and greetings between the Blue and Black Killiney jumpers on the putting green.
The Committee Team
Captain Gary Ryan & Joe McNeice
Brendan Seaver & Frank Brennan
David Ringrose & Arthur Doran
Charlie Barry & Larry Sherin
Jason Ballard & Gerry Drum
The golf was tricky in the extreme conditions with branches occasionally falling off trees, golf balls sailing over fences and leaves racing over fairways like Formula 1 cars in the storm conditions.
The result of the match 4:1 to the Artisans again....
Both teams shared friendly banter and match stories in the bar afterward.
Captain Gary presented Chairman Tony Bolger with the Annual Trophy, both gave warm speeches, in particular Tony who noted it was 40 years since he made his debut as a Killiney caddy for a shilling...
Until next year!
