Oh the excitement and anticipation for Gary Ryan's announcement on Friday Night as to who is the chosen one for Vice-Captain 2024!  Best wishes to whoever it will be... one of our men out there must have a few butterflies this week! 

COURSE NEWS
WINTER COURSE
A reminder that we have now moved to the Winter course.
The Men's Section are operating off the Winter card and the Ladies Section are using the back 9 of the Summer card.

GREENS AERATION
It’s that time of year where we have to do some aeration on our greens.  On Monday 13th November, we will be running an aeration machine across the greens to remove thatch from just below the grass surface.  Thatch is a build-up of dead organic matter, a natural by-product of growing grass.  It is the old dead grass leaves and roots, which left, will cause our greens to become very spongey and unplayable in the winter months.
The machine cuts thin channels in the surface to a depth of about 20mm and immediately injects clean new sand into the channels, the greens are then brushed and rolled to help reinstate playing surfaces.
The decision to aerate at this time of year is to give the greens time to recover while there is still some temperature in the ground.  We have in the past aerated in January but we found the recovery time extending into early summer.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused and let’s hope the winter is mild to aid recovery.
