Dear {{firstname}},

We would like to wish our incoming Junior Captains Joseph Hartnett & Jessica Plower all the very best on Sunday next at their Drive-In.  We hope you both enjoy the day and the year to follow.

The countdown is on for a fantastic weekend of viewing great golf at the Masters, it always promises to bring great excitement no matter the weather here at home.

A reminder to book your place at our Food & Wine Fare "A Taste of Killiney" on Thursday 25th April. Our full portfolio of wines from our wine list will be available to sample on the night - 30/40 different wines, from Findlater & Co / Grace Campbell Wines (Portuguese Wine Specialists) as well as Edward Dillon (Cocktails - Premium Spirit brands), Wicklow Wolf Beers, Sheridans Cheese Mongers and Alan Clarke Catering. NEW GREENS & TEES REPORT
The construction of the new greens and tees started at the end of last season and the building crew were off site by December. The grow-in period went well and we felt we were ahead of schedule regarding opening, coming into the new year.
Then the rabbits, foxes and crows took an interest in our newly laid turf. We installed fencing around the new greens, erected hawk kites, brought in live trained hawks, sprayed organic and chemical products, and set up a motion sensor to deter the animals. But, still they came!
A net was then installed over both the 6th and 7th greens to protect them. The damaged areas were repaired with turf from the practice area and a new maintenance programme started to help recover some grow-in time lost.
The new tees have been in play for 2 weeks and are holding up well to foot traffic, the greens need a few weeks of good growing conditions (temperatures) before opening for play as long term damage can be causes if they are played before they are strong enough for golf, it would also help if it stopped raining for a second so we can do some much needed maintenance on them.
With favourable conditions, I would be hopeful that the 6th green might be open towards the end of the month as this green suffered less animal damage than the 7th. The 7th green might need another 2 weeks before play can be allowed.
Finally, as regards to winter placing, we estimate another 2 weeks before going to summer rules.
Regards,
Michael Browne,
Course Superintendent.
