KILLINEY GOLF CLUB

Dear {{firstname}},

What a lovely sunny start to the new month of May - long 'may' it last! Oh I'm soooo witty! Sorry, I couldn't resist it.

Best of luck to everyone partaking in President Peter Bennett's Prize this weekend. May your golf form be at its best as this is as always a lovely one to win.
Following our Sports Psychology Talk from Professor Mark Campbell on Thursday 18th April last please Click Here to view his slide presentation on the night.
A great night was had by many of our members and guests who attended 'A Taste of Killiney' in our Clubhouse on Thursday last, 24th April 2024.  There was much sampling of food and tasting of wines, beers and cocktails done.  Funny, I don't think the spittoons were used much!
A very Big Thank You to our suppliers:
Febvre Wines
Grace Campbell Wines
Edward Dillon Spirits (Cocktails)
Wicklow Wolf Beers
Sheridans Cheesemongers
Alan Clarke Catering
Also, a huge Thank You to all involved in the organisation of this very successful and enjoyable evening. Click Here to view the photographs taken on the night.
Enjoy the Bank Holiday Weekend!

COURSE UPDATE
Removal of placing in the Rough
From Thursday 2nd May there will be placing ON THE FAIRWAYS ONLY. Balls in the rough must be played as they lie.  A small number of soft areas in the rough on the 1st, 3rd and 6th have been ringed with white lines and these should be treated as GUR.
Greens Update
The 6th Green will now be in play. The Bunkers will remain GUR.  Now the course can cope with heavy machinery, we expect DAR Golf to return to complete the bunkers within the next week or so.  The 7th Green suffered further fox damage last night which has now been repaired.  It is hoped it will be in play towards the end of May.

Course Care  -  Repair Replace Rake

Pitch Marks
The course staff have reported a significant increase in the number of unrepaired pitch marks on the greens over the last number of weeks. I would like to take this opportunity to remind all players of their responsibility to repair their pitch marks.

Sand Bags
Our stock of sand bags has dropped by almost 40%. Could all members please check to see if they have any in their car boots, garages or sheds and if so to return to the club.

As the temperatures start to hopefully rise and the growth season kicks in, it is more important than ever that divots are replaced and sanded. It is mandatory to take and use a sandbag when playing on the course.

Please continue to rake the bunkers after use.

Course Convenor
